Kalevi Laajisto and Liisa Halttunen-Laajisto wanted to build a modern wood house with a timeless design. "We wanted a home with healthy indoor air to help with allergy and asthma symptoms,” Liisa says.

Laajisto's log house was built in Jyväskylä, Central Finland, as part of the 2014 Housing Fair, and it was voted the best wooden house by Fair visitors. It gained particular praise for the wonderful natural light inside, which shines in through the large, well-designed windows. The log house was also nominated as the "the best house for cleaning and maintenance" at the Fair.

Log is an excellent building material for the people with difficult allergies and asthma. Log balances the fluctuation of indoor humidity and therefore prevents the harmful and unhealthy effects caused by extremely dry or damp air.
