A serene farm in the heart of Turkish nature
Author Vedat Bayrak and Kontio
A serene farm in the heart of Turkish nature, only an hour and a half away from Istanbul, features four beautiful Kontio houses designed especially for weekend getaways.
“After 26 years in the corporate world, I was longing for a new chapter. One that allowed me the freedom of my own time yet kept me connected to the energy of work and creation. In that search for a project, I could truly bring to life, Kontio appeared at exactly the right moment”, says the landowner Vedat Bayrak.
“Years ago, my wife and I bought a piece of land in nature with our very first savings. Over time, that piece of land — only an hour and a half away from Istanbul, one of the world’s most vibrant metropolises — became the heart of our dream for a country life close to the city.
What began with a single log house soon turned into something far greater: a reimagining of the way we live. With their refined architecture, harmony with nature, and timeless aesthetics, these homes have touched not only us, but also everyone who visits. Each guest’s reaction reminds us how right our decision was.”

There are four Kontio houses on the premise: three customized Kontio Högsåra models and one customized triangle house. The farm spreads over 7 decares, featuring various trees including fruit trees and organic farming and Kontio houses are perfectly suited for the farm.

“Today, as we complete our fourth house, we find ourselves eager to spend more of our lives here in peace, surrounded by nature, within homes that are simple, safe, and sustainable. We invite everyone to experience this way of living and to rediscover peace and beauty in homes that respect nature. And perhaps, to be inspired to build a life like this in the green paradise of Sapanca, just a short drive from Istanbul.”

Alper Nemli, Kontio’s reseller in Turkey, highlighted the environmental friendliness of log houses and exhibited Kontio’s exquisite expertise in architecture and interior design. Vedat decided to pick Kontio as his partner when visiting Finland.
“When I visited Kontio’s headquarters and their factory in Pudasjärvi in northern Finland, I just knew Kontio was the one. I was introduced to log production, Kontio’s first-class competence and the top-notch technology behind their processes,” Vedat explains.

On the hillside site, a main building and guest house were designed according to Kontio’s Högsåra collection. A local architect and interior designer participated in designing the project. The buildings have many custom-made pieces of furniture. The harmony of colours and special details accent the decor. The light-coloured walls and ceiling as well as the wooden floor provide a beautiful backdrop for the design. It is wonderful to relax in the peaceful atmosphere created by the harmonious shades of wood and brown of the interior.
