The goal of the Finnish Pavilion’s 2025 exhibition is to redefine our relationship with the built environment by highlighting the often-overlooked knowledge surrounding building maintenance and care. The theme aligns closely with Kontio’s values: to create sustainable log home dreams for its customers. As a key partner, Kontio will showcase the ecological and architectural potential of modern log construction.
Hanna Haipus, Director of B2B Business at Kontiotuote Oy, explains:
"We want to share with international designers the possibilities of wood construction, the grounding atmosphere of log buildings, and the health-promoting properties of pine. Our mission is to build enchanting, good life – shaping the cities of the future with wood."
The Finnish Pavilion is a wooden structure designed by Alvar Aalto’s office, originally erected in the spring of 1956 as Finland’s exhibition space for the Venice Art Biennale. Intended as a temporary structure, the pavilion still stands on its original site in the Venice Biennale’s Giardini area and has served as a platform for a wide range of exhibitions over the decades. It is now a protected building and one of the most iconic architectural landmarks in the Giardini pavilion park.
Katarina Siltavuori, Director of Archinfo and Commissioner of the Finnish Pavilion, comments:
"Finland’s small but renowned pavilion is a prime example of our wood-building tradition and its resilience – even in a climate like Venice. We are extremely pleased to have the world’s leading log house manufacturer and a strong advocate of Finnish wood expertise as our partner on this prestigious international stage."
